Community Costume Swap & Shop
September 22, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 6:00 pm
$2 – $5Whether you’re a performer, actor, dancer or you just like to dress up – WE HAVE SOMETHING FOR YOU!
Come to the Victoria Event Centre on Sunday, September 22 from 12PM to 6PM for a Community Costume Swap & Shop!
Suggested entry free $2-$5 but no one will be turned away for lack of funds. All door entry proceeds are going to the continual upgrades at the Victoria Event Centre. The bar will be open for those wanting a coffee, tea, pint or cocktail.
We will have clothing racks and tables for those who have costumes, odds/ends, props and more to sell.
CASH ONLY – there is an ATM inside.
We will have the main stage set up as a GIANT SWAP PILE! Have some costume bits you want to get rid of? Unload them here and grab some new pieces! Please only bring items that are in good condition. No major holes, stains or flaws. This is not a Swap & Shop for regular, every day clothing (we will have a separate event for that coming soon).
Please bring your own bags to take your new threads home with you as we will have limited bags to give away.
Depending on the size of the leftover swap pile, we will either throw another Swap & Shop or donate to a local organization (Peers, WIN, Sandy Merriman).
VENDORS and SWAPPERS:
– Florence Fatale
– Atomic Vaudeville
– Devaiya Ra
– Bus-Tee Pipes
– Leah ter Hart
– more TBA
Those wishing to sell things:
– Email florencefatale@victoriaeventcentre.ca to reserve your spot and to be added to the organization group.
– There is no charge to be a vendor but we are accepting donations for the continual upgrades at the Victoria Event Centre.
– You are in charge of pricing and selling your items. Be prepared for the big day by already having your items priced.
– Please only bring items that are in good condition. No major holes, stains or flaws. Broken zippers, clasps, etc are okay as long as they are fixable. Please make note of these flaws and have your prices reflect that.
– Suggested load in time is 10AM on Sunday, September 22nd.

We would like to gratefully acknowledge that the territory on which this event takes place is on the traditional, stolen, unceded land of the Lekwungen and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples. We acknowledge the rich cultural history of the many peoples and rituals that have been affected by the ongoing process of dispossession and colonialism. We hold this understanding in our interactions and engagements with this land and its people.

VEC Accessibility:
There are three multi-user, gender-inclusive bathrooms with stalls. One bathroom has a larger stall with its own sink and a grab bar (more details in the ‘Bathrooms’ section).
The Victoria Event Centre currently does not have an operational elevator, and there is one long flight of stairs at the venue entrance. The only way into the VEC is up 27 wood stairs, 11″ deep, 6″ high. There are wooden 2.5” handrails 38” up the wall on each side of the staircase (54” apart, so not graspable on both sides at once). See further details in ‘Getting Inside’ section)
If you would like to attend the event but require assistance with accessing the space, please contact us at events@victoriaeventcentre.ca and VEC staff will do their best to accommodate.
