The only way into the VEC is up 27 wood stairs\, 11″ deep\, 6″ high. There are wooden 2.5” handrails 38” up the wall on each side of the staircase (54” apart\, so not graspable on both sides at once). Each week will be dedicated to learning different sensual movements and how to incorporate it into choreography. I have performed all over Victoria for most of my life\, and while doing so\, I have discovered my love for burlesque and striptease about 2 years ago. I loved the way it made me love my body and boost my confidence. I have been on a mission to spread that joy to other people ever since! \nThese workshops will take place on the unceded land of the Lekwungen\, songhees and Esquimalt people. \nI enthusiastically welcome (but not limited to): POC’s\, LGBTQ2S+ and non-binary folx. \nACCESSIBILITY: unfortunately Wild roots is not wheelchair accessible. The studio is up a flight of stairs and down a long corridor. I apologize for the lack of acsessbility at this new location. I am going to work hard to try and find an accessible location in the future. The washroom is gender neutral.The studio is a scent free space. DESCRIPTION:This workshop takes place on the unceded territories of the Lekwungen-speaking peoples. This includes the Songhees\, Esquimalt and WSÁNEĆ nations. It means a great deal to me to live\, perform\, and share knowledge on these territories\, and to grapple with what it means to be an uninvited ‘guest’. Colonialism permeates our culture\, including white queer culture. Including drag. Including burlesque. We need to repair this and promote healing. SUMMARY:WORKSHOP: Pastie-making 101: Super Easy and Fun!
DESCRIPTION:Hi beauties! Very excited to announce that I’m able to offer this crafty\, hands-on\, beginner pastie-making class to a limited number of participants on Sunday\, September 29th\, in the Glanford area. (Address TBD) \nREGISTRATION: please etransfer to vogue.mahone@outlook.com\, including the name I might know you by! 😉 \nThe class fee will be $50.00\, and will include everything you need to design and make a pair of basic tasselled pasties in your choice of size and colour. I will also include fun paints and up to 2 gross of rhinestones per participant in your choice of size and colour to embellish your designs with\, and if you want additional stones to really oomph up your design\, they will be available for purchase. \nIf you could bring your own scissors\, hot glue gun\, and e6000 fabrifuse\, that would be super\, otherwise we can share. \nYou will leave with an awesome pair of your own pasties! \nIf financial barriers prevent you from attending\, please reach out and we will get you a spot. \nClass is open to anyone interested\, but won’t be suitable for little ones. \nWill also organize ride-sharing once we know who is attending. \nMy bona fides…\nVogue Mahone\, proprietor of Showgirl Sparkle\, has long been enamoured of all things glamorous\, opulent\, and colourful. \nWith a background in art\, graphic design\, and crafts\, Vogue became a burlesque performer in Victoria BC in 2016\, and soon fell in love with the costumes\, culture\, history and traditions of burlesque. \nHer shop\, Showgirl Sparkle\, launched in January of 2017\, and she has handcrafted hundreds of pairs of pasties since!. Her intricate pasties\, headpieces\, hair flowers\, and the embellishing work she creates on clients’ costumes are now worn by performers all over the world!
